BLACK TIP REEF SHARKS
The black tip reef shark is a common reef shark that can easily be identified by its black-tipped fins and white streak on its side. With a length up to 6 feet and weight up to 100 pounds black tip reef sharks are considered a small to medium-sized shark. The shark has a dark-colored back and a light-colored belly.
The black tip reef shark has long, thin, serrated teeth suited for its diet of fish. They mostly eat reef fish and hunt in small groups during the day. The blacktip reef shark is not very aggressive but can be slightly dangerous to divers and waders. Female black tip sharks incubate their young for up to 16 months before giving birth. They usually produce litters of from two to four shark pups.
